HM Bark Endeavour

HMS Endeavour, also known as HM Bark Endeavour, was a British Royal Navy research vessel commanded by Lieutenant James Cook on his first voyage of discovery, to Australia and New Zealand from 1769 to 1771.

The Replica HM Bark Endeavour, the only full-size replica of the world-renowned Captain James Cook in the Northern Hemisphere, and is one of only two such vessels in the world is right here on the River Tees!

The HM Bark Endeavour is a unique facility for Events, Private Functions, Weddings, Corporate Events, Re-enactments, Commercial Filming, Themed Events and Special Dining Events.

While this reflects the external dimensions of Cook’s vessel, this replica was constructed with a steel rather than a timber frame, has one less internal deck than the original, and is not designed to be put to sea. Guided Tours

Our friendly and knowledgeable guides will give you a fascinating insight into what life at sea was like in the 18th Century. An audio information system is available at strategic locations throughout the vessel. The cabins are exhibited as authentic for the voyage and many other artefacts are displayed for information about the period.

Food and Drink
Light meals and all alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages are available on the Orlop Deck. Full catering facilities are also available for sit down meals subject to prior booking.

A comprehensive range of souvenirs is available for purchase as a memento of your visit.
