Eastern Airways will launch its first ever international flights from Durham Tees Valley Airport to Brussels.
The full service UK regional airline, will offer day return journeys with two flights each weekday from October 2006 from Durham Tees Valley heading for the European Union capital.
Locally based pilots and cabin crew will operate a 29 seat Jetstream 41 aircraft on the Belgian route and this is the second aircraft that the airline will base at Durham Tees Valley Airport.
Mark Clarkson, Durham Tees Valley Airport business development manager, said: “The route is strategically important for the successful development of many local industries and the new service will deliver valuable time savings for business travellers.”
Brussels Airport has an efficient rail link into the capital city with train journeys taking just 20 minutes.
Eastern Airways also operates 4 daily flights (Monday to Friday) and a Sunday service to Aberdeen.
